Day 5 – rest

Rest is an extremely important part of training that is often overlooked.

I’m going to spend 1/2 day working than head off to the Phillis vs. Cubs at 1:05

Kids get to run the bases after the game. Can’t wait.

Day 4 – 3 mile run – weight training

It’s raining here in Philadelphia, but since when does that stop anyone?

Easy 3 mile run

Day 3 of my 18 week Philadelphia Marathon Training

5 mile treadmill run today!

Took me 48:40 to make it. I’m under my goal of 10 minute miles, but I can do better.

I’m going to try and take pics after a bunch of my runs and hopefully during as well.

Day 2 of my 18 week trip into madness

Today’s running training consists of a 3 mile run. I actually made it 3.2 miles on Google Maps:

3.2 mile run through Kingston, Cherry Hill

3.2 mile run through Kingston, Cherry Hill

When planning my running routes with Google Maps I like the make them slightly long. I’d rather run an extra tenth of a mile rather than short myself a tenth, but that’s just me.

Tip:

It’s really easy to make your own routes. Simply find your start location and make up a stop location a few blocks away.

Then drag and drop the blue line where you want to run. The info on the right will tell you how long your trip will be and how long it will take (if you were a one legged pirate). After you have a few white dots on your route you can drag your endpoint next to your start point.

fairly simple, and really cool. Try making one now:

The Journey Begins…

So here we are on my first day of my 18 week training program for the Philadelphia marathon.

So what’s on the menu for today? Cross Training of course :)

5 mile hike to the top of Mt. Tammany. It’s located on the New Jersey side of the Delaware Water Gap.

This portion of the Appalachian Trail has a lot of clearly marked paths that are fun and picturesque.
