What a difference!

What a difference 15 degrees and 40% humidity makes.

Every Friday from now until the Philadelphia Marathon I’ll be running the Ben Franklin Bridge at 12:30 – Rain or shine.

If you ever want to join me, you know where to find me.

I guess it also holds true if you want to mug me, but be forwarned – I’m fast and broke :)

Today was an amazing run and I feel great. The kind of day that reminds you why you really don’t hate running all that much.

Good run today :)

I ran a nice slow 6 miles today. averaged just over 9 minute miles.

starting to build up my endurance and stamina.

today I read articles in runners world and listened to a new ‘station’ on Pandora.

The reading part was a little tough. I haven’t tried reading on a treadmill in a long time. I found that I had to re-read many lines and some of the fonts are way to small. But it gave me something to do and think about. Normally I try and get my mind to think about making it over the next wave, next mile, next minute, next second. It’s not a very relaxing way to run.

The music was a really nice surprise. I listened to a Kings of Leon album this morning on grooveshark and liked it. So I created a new station on Pandora by simply typing in “Kings of Leon”. Pandora played a nice mix of new (alternative?) rock music from bands I don’t necessarily know or listen to. Here is my station

Very good run overall.

Last week I ran 4 days, took off Sunday and Monday.
I’m shaping up quickly and feeling great. Each run is getting easier.

Keep it up everyone, it gets better :)

3.1 miles through Kingston

This is one of my default running routes through Kingston neighborhood in Cherry Hill NJ.

It has a couple of nice hills and it’s mostly shady for those hot days.

My son Zachary went with me. He rode his bike while I jogged.

Getting him to join took some work. I came downstairs around 7:30 am and he was laying on the couch resting, still trying to wake up. He is not a morning person. He saw me in my running gear and was asking if I had a race. “no race today, just going for a run to wake up, why don’t you come with me?”
“No”
“Come on, it will be fun and help start the day off right”
“I’m tired”
“you can go in your pajamas and it will be short run”
“uuuggghhhh”

I got my shoes on and drank some water.

“Come on Zack, we’re going”

He got up and proceeded to put his shoes on without giving me a hard time.

While on the run we discussed all the interesting sounds you could hear in the neighborhood. The birds different sounds. The insects that were so loud. We also talked about cars, independence day and what to do in case Daddy has as a heart attach :)

It was a fairly awesome father son morning and makes me happy I’m a runner.

Easy 5 miles – Mint Hill, North Carolina

There’s a nice park up the road. I’m going to go explore it.

The weather here is just about perfect. Rain came through last night and cooled everything off nicely.

The sun is just rising and everything is purple.

This isn’t a planned training run or anything. Today I’m running for the sake of running.

Go find your happy place
